Jay Morris Spinathon 2012

Info on this years 2012 Jay Morris Spinathon. For those of you who are new to the club, Jay Morris was one of the earliest members of Velo Sport and an active member of the club and committee. Jay passed away after a battle with Cancer and Velo Sport have remained a part of his Family and their fund raising through our annual participation in ths spinathon and the Jay Morris Memorial Road Race.

The event will be at Club Carrefour in St Lawrence once again. It is held on the last Saturday in February and Club Carrefour very kindly loan their facilities from 11.00am until 6.00pm.

There are usually have about 90 people participating during the 7 hours, most do one hour, a few more (this depends on the amount of people we have as the room only holds 21 bikes.) People pay £10.00 to participate and each person will hopefully try and raise more money by getting family and friends to sponsor them. All the registration and sponsorship money raised goes to Jersey Hospice Care who helped look after Jay during his illness. This will be our 10th Spinathon but 9 years since Jay passed away. To date the amount that has been raised for Jersey Hospice by everyone who has participated or people sponsoring them is approximately £135,000.

It is usually quite a fun day, cycling to the music, friends meeting up, home-made cakes, snacks and a lot of sweaty bodies!
