Information for New Ladies Starting Out

We have a fantastic race scene in Jersey with up to 3 races a week, resulting in an incredible 74 races in a Season!  These consist of Time Trials, Track Races at Quennevais, and a variety of Road Races on courses of varying difficulty.  While it can seem daunting at first Time Trialling is a great way to get a taste for the race scene and, as your confidence grows, Division 3 in the Track Series provides plenty of opportunity to hone the skills needed for racing on the road.

Once your enthusiasm and abilities have grown you may begin to wonder how you compare to other women cyclists beyond the ones your race with in Jersey.  There are a number of opportunities to do this. Firstly the Inter-Insular Races with Guernsey (a Time Trial and a Road Race each year), secondly it is relatively easy to pop over to France to race in the French races (click on Les Epreuves).  If you feel more at home heading to the UK there is a ladies calendar with the Bruton Road Race Series and also the Rudy Project Time Trial Series plus the Team Series.  National ladies events make for good goals.

The Island Games, held every 2 years is a fantastic place to meet and race with strong, inspirational lady cyclists!  The next one is in Isle of Wight in 2011. Why not make it a target to Qualify?!!   In short, how far you wish to take your racing is up to you...!
