Another beautiful morning for the final day of the Easter Stage Race. Once again it was a handicap with the first (slowest) group heading off with a 3 minute lead on the second (faster) group who set off when the first group approached the start again.
18 laps of Corbiere... the wrong way (anti-clockwise)... is quite a daunting prospect at the best of times, not least with 4 days of racing in your legs..
The first group managed to keep away for quite a while, assisted by Bill Buist who had had a technical on the first lap. Much appreciated Bill and a shame Gary de G put paid to it by pulling Bill out! Following this, the group managed to stay fairly together, diminishing in size as the laps rolled on.
The faster group managed to hook up with some of the elites (notably Chris and Richard) and stayed together almost to the end, also diminishing in size as the laps continued. Fantastic efforts by Richard, who made it his third win of the Easter Stage Race as well as winning overall, and also by Mike Mitch who was there almost to the end and appeared to enjoy spending his time at the front.
The ladies contingent was made up of Helen and Jim, Jim managing to be third in the group she started in and Helen was showing fine form.
