08.08.24 JCA 25 Mile TT

I’m not sure which is worse, riding or marshalling in the rain ...being old and infirm I managed to forget helmet and shoes having driven to the event, after originally planning to ride there, so I took the latter option.The fact that it’s August and supposed to be summer has obviously been forgotten by the climate, global warming pah. Thirty two riders, clearly in need of counselling, turned up in pretty foul conditions and to their credit put in a good effort with some fast times recorded. Congratulations to Andy Munns taking the vets title, closely followed by Mark Nish, with Sam Carney  winning the juniors. Great ride by Vince to take second overall and good to see so many Velo ladies braving the rain, Jo finishing just ahead of Jim for the first time, well done.  I should imgaine one or 2 riders had some slippery moments but I am not aware of any serious problems. Marshalling the Trinity Church turn was an interesting experience with a number of riders taking the right turn on the return journey very fine and in one case, despite me shouting numerous warnings nearly ending up on the bonnet of a car coming the other way...he knows who he is and he was in blue...shocking. Big thanks to Toby and Andy H for organising and fellow marshalls JPB, Kenny Patrick, Alan, and numerous others, without you the race couldn’t take part.
