08.08.31 JCA road race

Prior to this mornings race there had been mutterings of dark and devious goings on; a late change to the course turning a sprinters race into a climbers course and who this might favour. I would like to point out that personally I was confident that the motives for the change were based on the finest of intentions, although I would suggest for future reference a little more warning would be appreciated. The outcome of all four, yes all four, classes fully supports my view cos didn’t we do well...in fact it was better than well, it was bleeding brilliant!!! Vince timed his sprint on the last lap to perfection to take 1st place ahead of Robin Ovenden, Mike Mitch stuck to Dave Mayman like glue and took him on the line for the Vets title. For the Ladies and Juniors there was only one team in it, full marks to Steven Haley pushing Sam all the way, but having to accept 2nd place...great to  see the 2 of you up there in the leading group... and to Jo stalking Jim for the whole race but having to settle for second as Jim pulled out the stops on the last climb. Good to see such a large Velo presence and all putting in such a great effort...and yes I will back next spring Des...thats what cuckoos do! Thanks to the CCC for organising an excellent race.
