Dan Halksworth - ERRL Andrews Trophy - National B

May 10, 2015

10th May saw me racing in my first National B race. Field was a lot stronger with Elites and lots of 1st cat riders. Going in to the race the aim was for 11th to gain enough points to get my Cat 2 licence so I could enter British Time Trial nationals before the closing date of June 1st.

It was a fast flat course so for the first lap I sat at the back observing the field and course. Second Lap a small break went up the road with a few chasing. In that chase pack a few of the guys I had pointed out as being threats. I decided to chase them down and see what we could do. The group was 11 strong and we were working relatively well for the whole race. On the last lap were caught by a group of 15 which was a little frustrating. Unfortuanltey the group i was with for 115km seemed to give up hope and thats why they made up 30 seconds in one lap. Coming into the last corner I got boxed in and found myself at the back. I managed to work myself up to the front with about 50 m to go but my legs simply gave up and that was it for me. I got 11th so was pretty lucky and relieved to get what I came for. Was a nice step up from the previous races in time for this weekends regionals. TT nationals are now entered.

Thanks to Davies and Ingram for the ongoing support, to Velo Sport Jerseyfor the travel grant and also to Pedal Power for looking after my bike needs.
