Hayley, Woolrich & Smith - Duo Normand - 2 Up Time Trial

Velo's Stephen Hayley, Jon Woolrich and Martin Smith together with lots of Jersey club riders participated in the 34th edition of the Duo Normand 2 up TT last weekend in warm and dry, if a bit breezy, conditions.
Stephen Hayley, partnering with Casp's Jim Garrett, were entered in the Departmental Catogory (not sure what thats about!) and duly finished top step of the podium in a time of 1hr 20:40 beating 54 other pairings. A good time despite the northerly wind which had strengthened in the afternoon making the first 16km or so hard going. This performance was a fine addition to their 2013 victory in the unlicensed category.
Woolrich and Smith, entered in the 3rd Category event (if only to avoid getting up early) were going well once the first headwind section was out of the way catching a couple of other pairs on the hilly section. This was before Smith started to die however, Woolrich taking on the majority of the workload on the tough final 10km out and back to Marigny. Stll, they finished in a time of 1hr 23.30 in 20th place. A better time than last year.
It was great to see lots of Jersey riders participating and many thanks to Tony Moffa and Sean Twohig for organising the food and hotels and Howard for doing all the driving. It looked like everyone had a good weekend away.
